A nice bowl of hot soup is so good at the end of a long day. It warms and comforts you, making you feel cared for. Some people are afraid to try making soup at home that does not come in a can, but it is pretty easy once you give it a try. If you use your slow cooker, it is even easier.
Soups for the Slow Cooker
Almost any kind of soup can be made in a slow cooker. Whether you prefer simpler soups like vegetable beef or lentil soup, or if your favorites include fancier soups like vichyssoise or pot-au-feu, your slow cooker will come in handy. You can even create delicate soups such as trout chowder or crab soup in a slow cooker while you attend to other tasks. If you like ethnic soups like Indian Dal or Italian Wedding soup, they also turn out perfectly in a slow cooker.
It does not matter what your favorite soup is. . . you can probably make it in your slow cooker. Leftovers work, too. If you have a ham bone left, toss it in with some split peas for yummy pea soup, or add some navy beans to make a hearty bean soup.
Even soups that seem more complicated, like cheddar cheese or clam chowder, can easily be made in your slow cooker. Whether it is something simple like chicken soup or more complicated, you can make all your favorite soups. Use your favorite ingredients like noodles, dumplings or rice. . . whichever you prefer.
Try Something New
You can also try a soup recipe that is new for you. Trying new recipes is always fun! A new slow cooker soup will give you something exciting to look forward to for dinner. Have you ever tried a garden cabbage soup? What about deviled chicken soup? Have you ever heard of a cheesy meatball soup or a taco soup? You are sure to find new favorites.
With a little inspiration, you can create your own slow cooker soup recipes. Why not give it a try? The slow cooker lets you make a few mistakes. It will tenderize a tough piece of meat. Adding different vegetables and herbs add a delicious, complex flavor to your soup. If you like a creamy soup, add some milk or cream towards the end of your cooking time. Let your imagination run wild.
Traditional soups like chicken and dumplings, beef noodle and potato soup are great, too. For something a little different, mix up the ingredients a bit. Try adding bacon or ham to your potato soup, or put brown rice in your beef soup. Adding a new twist can be a lot of fun.
If you have a lot of leftovers, such as after a major holiday, use the slow cooker to make a nice soothing soup. Add in some leftover turkey or ham to make a great soup. Add rice, noodles, or potatoes if you wish. Do not forget the leftover vegetables like corn, peas, carrots. . . and do not leave out the gravy. You will have a sumptuous holiday soup that lets you enjoy your meal all over again with very little work. Using slow cookers is a great way to relax.
Chicken soup are a delicious way to show your family that you care. The time taken to lovingly prepare each ingredient and add it to the kettle will show in the bowls when you serve them the soup. The flavors are incredible, and your family will love every drop. Visit ChickenNoodleSoups. com for some great soup recipes.

Nothing fills the belly and warms the heart quite like a good chicken tortilla soup recipe. Made with real chicken, peppers, tortilla strips, tomatoes and more, the chicken tortilla soup is a delicious food that the entire family will enjoy. There are dozens of different types of recipes available for making these soups. Each one has its own unique twist, as there is no such thing as a “traditional recipe” – even within Mexico, the ingredients that go into these soups can vary by region, with each one having its own special flavor for you to enjoy. That said, you will generally find a chicken tortilla soup recipe that is cooked in one of two methods: 1) Slow Cooker (Crockpot) 2) Standard Pot Before you go about choosing your chicken tortilla soup recipe, you will need to ask yourself which of these cooking methods you prefer, based on the benefits and weaknesses of their systems. Slow Cooker/Crockpot Benefits As with many things in life, time is of limited quantity. A slow cooker allows you to start cooking when you have some free time so that the meal will be ready when you are ready to eat it. In addition, slow cookers do not heat to a boil, which can help you keep some of the vital nutrients inside of the dish so that your meal turns out healthier. Finally, slow cooking allows juices to seep into your meats better than they would previously, allowing you to fully savor every bite. Weaknesses Slow cookers are very slow – you simply cannot cook any meal on the fly as you could with a pot. Similarly, many ingredients that you may enjoy that are found in a traditional chicken tortilla soup recipe may lose its flavor when cooked over a long period of time in the Crockpot. Hot spices, for example, tend to become bland and bitter if cooked for too long. This can be a problem, and will limit the number of recipes you will be able to use. Standard Pot Benefits Standard pots allow you to cook quickly and easily, ready to make an entire meal for you and your family. You will not need to worry about the meal being done when you are ready for it, nor will you be unpleasantly surprised by a poor tasting food since you can test your soup as you cook it. There are also far more recipes designed for the standard pot than there are for the Crockpot. Weaknesses Standard pots can damage nutrients, and require you to be constantly at work cooking the soup before your meal. You cannot prepare ahead of time with the standard pot, as the chicken is not meant to sit for very long before serving. Both of these cooking methods have their benefits and weaknesses for your chicken tortilla soup needs. A slow cooker will allow you to prepare the food ahead of time for consumption so that it is ready by the time you are ready to enjoy it, and it may be able to retain greater nutrient levels, but standard pots are faster, easier, and work with many of the traditional recipes. Luckily, whichever one you choose will be more than suitable for cooking a delicious meal for you to enjoy.
